Our Friendly and Knowledgable Staff

Neil partnered with
Cory to purchase the store in 2007 and looks forward to continuing to grow the
store to better serve the Saskatoon cycling community. Besides being an
attentive mechanic, Neil also designed and maintains the webpage for the shop.
Neil often refers to himself as the 'resident busybody' and it shows. When he isn't working Neil competes in cross-country mountain bike racing
(2005 Master Expert provincial champion),
does some road racing (won Master A provincials in 2004), organizes races, coaches, and does whatever he can to improve cycling in the fair city of Saskatoon.
Because Neil has a Masters Degree in Engineering, he is often consulted for his
knowledge of aerodynamics and wheel-building talents. Neil has a quiet,
easy-going manner that people are naturally drawn to.

Cory
joined forces with Neil to purchase the store in 2007 and looks forward to serving the
Saskatoon cycling community.
He is a man of many interests and skills - Cory is a three time senior men's provincial champion on mountain bike,
is currently enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan taking a kinesiology
degree, coaches, volunteers with many of the cycling programs and has done ALL
of the amazing welding at the bike store! If you haven't seen the new bike
displays, it's worth the drive! Cory is one of the best mechanics in town and is
often sought out for his expertise. He is who all of our staff go to when
unusual fixes are required.

Susan will sell you your next bike, and along the way she will share her enthusiasm for cycling, and involvement with the Saskatoon cycling community. In her spare time she
races mountain, road and cyclo-cross, has coached the Saskatchewan Canada Games team,
created the wildly successful 17 Weeks to Spring Training Program and volunteers in a variety of other activities including a weekly women's mountain bike with the Northern Bush Rastas club.
Susan has numerous provincial titles including the 2006 40km ITT, 2006 Cyclo-cross,
and 2005 Master Women's Road championships.
Bruce is... Bruce (of
Bruce's Cycle Works). He started Bruce's Cycle Works in 1997 and passed
the torch on to Cory and Neil in 2007. He continues to work at the store and
intends on helping Neil and Cory with running the store (knowing there are lots
of things still left to teach the young guys).
With his new found freedom Bruce intends to spend more time road riding this
year, and is considering trying out a race or two. Bruce is one of our
kindest staff members and he is quick to give customers his full attention.
Because of his years of riding experience he is able to offer great advice in
purchasing bikes and bike accessories.

As
near as we can figure, Nathan rides his road bike more than any person in Saskatoon
and if you ride too, you have probably seen him riding around Saskatoon (even if
you didn't know it). Nathan started racing again this past year and has quickly become one of the strongest
Cat 2 road racers in the province. He recently set the highest VO2 Max
test ever recorded at the U of S! When he is not biking, he is our
resident road bike expert at the shop and when working on bikes he treats
every bike like it was his own. Nathan is full of great information and is
often who folks seek out when looking for "tips" on how to get ahead in their
cycling.
If you didn't own a car where would you want to work? In a bike shop
of course! James uses his bike for transportation all year long and is very
proud of it. He sets an excellent example for the rest of us at the shop too.
Besides his interest in bikes, James is currently enrolled in school to become a massage therapist and
is also passionate about Karate - spending most his
non-work time perfecting his form. James shows his stuff both behind the
service desk and on the sales floor. He is articulate and very easy going.
In fact, James is so easy going that you can often hear him saying, "No problem"
even in the busiest of situations.

Like bikes?
Get a part-time job in a bike shop. Morgan enjoys both road and mountain biking
and races both. In the winter he speed-skates and was a member of the
Saskatchewan Short Track Speed-Skating team for the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
When Morgan joined our shop last year he required very little training. He
is extremely wise for his years and has a distinct aptitude for fixing bikes.
Chris is a
Political Science student at the U of S who does a ton of biking in his spare
time. Chris races mountain bike when he has to but his true love is the road
bike. Chris has won the Provincial Road Championship in the junior category
for both 2005 and 2006. He is now racing in the espoir category and has big
plans. This is Chris's second year at the store and we love his easy
going, friendly manner with both the staff and our customers.

Alyssa is
currently pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at the U of S. When she isn't
studying, she is working and biking. She was a member of the 2005
Saskatchewan Cycling team for Canada Games in Regina. Alyssa is the 2006
Provincial Senior Road and Criterium champion. She also won the 2004 Junior
Mountain bike Provincial Champion. Impressive results for only starting to
compete in 2003. As well, Alyssa coached for the 17 Weeks to Spring
program and was well loved (especially for her encouragement during hard
workouts). Alyssa's amazing outlook on life is infectious and we know that
her first year at our store is going to be a great one!

Axel is
another speed-skater/cyclist who works part-time in our shop. He currently rides
mostly mountain bike, but like any enthusiast he will probably end up with a
stable of bikes - one to suit each mood or season of the year. Axel is a
little quieter than some of our staff but don't be fooled, he is very
considerate and quick to learn.

If you are interested in working at Bruce's Cycle Works, please drop off a resume at the shop and ask to speak with Cory or Neil. The shop typically hires extra seasonal staff for the summer months, therefore the best time to apply is in March or April. There are tons of great reasons to work in a bikeshop, the biggest reason being its fun! We also provide flexible hours, trainings and full-time staff receive health benefits.
Shop History
Its not a glamorous epic set against a backdrop of turbulence and social upheaval, but it is the story of the store. And a short story at that since the store is only 14 years old. Anyway, for those who are interested here is the history of Bruce's Cycle Works.
Bruce's Cycle Works was founded in 1993 by Bruce Kemp. The original store was located in Martensville, but was relocated in 1997 to its present location in Saskatoon. Bruce is an avid cyclist who rides both mountain and road bike and is involved in the club scene in Saskatoon.
In 2007 Bruce sold the store to Neil Clarke and Cory Zetterstrom - both long time employees at the store. Bruce is still helping out and is using his new-found spare time to bike more.
Bruce's Cycle Works has always been active in the cyclign community and has sponsored mountain bike races since 1997; starting with the Saskatchewan Provincial Championships in 1997 held at Regina Beach. The store also sponsors the highly successful BCW Cycling club along with a host of other community projects.
