Specialized
Our best selling helmets are from Specialized and for good reason. Specialized uses some of the most advanced technologies to make their helmets as safe and comfortable as possible. Highlights include the Mouthport to improve airflow, Dual Density EPS to omptimize impact performance and reduce weight. Tri-Fix web splitter to improve comfort and fit of the straps around your ears and 4X Drylite webbing that won't stretch when it becomes wet. All of this makes for helmets that lead the industry in comfort and protection.
Bell/Giro
Bell/Giro helmets (Bell owns Giro) are also an industry leader in the helmet business and in several categories, their offerings eclipse all other manufacturers. Their helmets are renowned for their comfort, style, color options and combination of technologies to make them safe, light and well vented. One thing to watch out with Bell helmets is they also have a line of helmets that they sell in certain big box stores that do not share all these technologies so buy your helmet at a bike store, and your toys at a toy store.
Lazer
Lazer is a European brand that has some cool helmets if you are looking for something different, and because all the helmets we sell meet the same high standards of safety, why not choose something that speaks to your sense of style. It also helps that Lazer uses a different retention system that fits certain head shapes better than any other brand. We especially like their Armour helmets pictured to the right. The helmets come in a variety of unique colors making them the perfect accessory for your bike to work and the best part is that they are way lighter than the standard BMX helmets that they resemble!
Specialized
Quite possibly the best shoes ever, and definitely the best that we have ever tested. The fit on Specialized shoes is amazing. The BG footbeds combine to improve knee/foot alignment, and reduced hot spots. Other technologies that help to make the best shoes possible are outsoles that have different stiffness ratings depending on the designed use of the shoe, BOA laces on many models for improved comfort and weight reduction, and several models available in a wide fit.
Pearl Izumi
Pearl Izumi is a leader in designing and manufacturing cycling shoes that don't look like cycling shoes. Check out the one pictured to the right, it could pass for a running shoe and still maintains cycling specific attributes like a stiff sole for comfort while biking and is SPD compatible. These are a favorite of people who are commuting and want to be able to wear their shoes off the bike, and are also very popular at spin classes.
We also carry shoes from Louis Garneau, Bontrager, and Mavic to cover various categories not covered by Specialized or Pearl Izumi.
Clothing
Cycling clothing is designed to make you more comfortable while you ride by providing wicking of sweat, protection from wind, improved comfort on the saddle of your bike. We carry clothing for a variety of quality brands and a selection that is designed for road cycling, moutain biking, multi sport, and commuting. Much of the clothing works well for a variety of other outdoor activities including running and cross-country skiing.
Remember that there is more to cycling clothing than just shorts, jerseys, and jackets. Cycling socks make your shoes more comfortable, especially on hot days. Cycling gloves improve comfort for your hands and protect from callouses. Arm warmers, leg warmers, knee warmers and vests are great for comfort while riding in cooler weather. Don't forget to wear eye protection to protect your eyes from bugs, too much sun and the wind as you ride.
Brands
We carry Specialied, Pearl Izumi, Helly Hanson, Bieme, and Louis Garneau clothing. Some of our favorite pieces include bib-shorts from Biemme (literally the most comfortable we have ridden), mountain bike shorts from Specialized, jackets and socks from Pearl Izumi, Helly Hanson baselayers and accessories from Louis Garneau.
Specialized
Specialized saddles are by far the leader in design and comfort. They actually do lab testing of their saddles to determine optimum shapes to reduce pressure and maximize blood flow while cycling. They make each of their saddles in both a men's and women's version and three different widths to accomodate a wide variety of body shapes. Each style of saddle is customized to the type of activity that it will be used for and this attention to detail makes for the most comfort possible whether you are riding to work, riding around the world, racing mountain bike, road or triathlon.
We also carry commuter saddles from Bontrager - they make an excellent, entry-priced gel saddle that is available in both a men's and women's version. These saddles are designed to maximize comfort while riding in an upright position and have lots of padding and flex for maximum comfort.
Selle Anatomica is a niche saddle that solves a lot of problems that triathletes have with the extreme forward position that they have on the bike. If you are experiencing discomfort, this saddle is probably the answer. Those who use them, will ride nothing else!.
Garmin
When you sell Garmin, there really is no reason to sell anything else fcycling, triathlon, running or fitness specific heartrate monitors and computers. The GPS funtion and flexibility of their units make them such a joy to use, and the ability to plot where you went on Google maps is super cool. Besides traditional GPS units, Garmin also makes dedicated heartrate monitors if you don't need speed and distance functions. For triathlon they have introduced a unit that will record your data while swimming, as well as the bike and run. We have found their electronics to be super reliable, easy to use, and the displays are customizable to whatever amount of data you want to keep track of on the fly.
We also sell regular bike computers from Specialized and Bontrager. These units again were chose for simplicity of use, and reliability making them great for recording your distance traveled, speed, time and there are even options for measuring your cadence.
Road/Triathlon
We sell road pedals from three companies. Each pedal brand has it's own strength, and depending on what you are looking for, will influence your purchasing choice.
Look was one of the first and most copied pedal designs. The Look Keo is light, secure and reasonably easy to get out of.
Shimano licenses Look's technology in their pedals so they share many of the same characteristics. Shimano is a bit heavier but gains increased reliability because of it.
Speedplay pedals are unique in providing resistance free float and probably the best resistance to accidental release of any pedal. They are a favorite of people with sensitive knees.
Mountain
Just like our road pedals, each pedal brand we stock is for a specific reason.
Time pedals have a combination of bomb proof reliability, excellent mud clearance and simple design that makes for an excellent off-road cycling pedal.
Shimano pedals are the standard for spin bikes so are an excellent choice if you go to the gym during the winter.
Crank Brothers pedals can be best described as a light weight version of the Time pedal. They are mimimalistic, have easy engagement, but do sacrifice reliability for super light weight.
Speedplay also makes an excellent off-road pedal that has a small but dedicated following. The lack of resistance to exit makes them a favorite of people who want to get out of their pedals quickly or are concerned with getting stuck in their pedals.
Thule and Yakima
Transporting your bike can be a hassle and the best way to ensure that it arrives at the destination is to have a quality bike rack for your car. We sell racks from the two industry leaders, Thule and Yakima. We like both and choosing between them is often difficult as they both offer excellent products with only slight differences is the options or functionality.
We carry racks that go on the trunk of your car, mount into the hitch, as well as racks for the top of your car. One of our favorites is the hitch mounted T2 from Thule. This think is the best invention ever, it will literally fit almost any bike and doesn't touch the frame so there is no worry of damage from transport.
We also sell Swagman hitch mounted racks which are an excellent quality budget line that does not have all the more expensive features but still has rock solid quality to protect your bike from damage.
