started it all in 1981 with the first mass produced mountain
bike. Since then, Specialized has introduced a long string of
innovative and cutting edge bikes that keep them on the cutting
edge of mountain biking.
Now Specialized has mountain bikes for almost every rider from the first time trail rider with the Rockhopper, to the endurance racer with the Epic to the all day trail rider with the Enduro platform.
Rocky Mountain Bicycles sold their first
bicycle in 1982 but the founders of Rocky started earlier
than that by modifying road style bikes in the back of their
shop in 1978. Since then this Canadian company has kept at the
front of the industry with such iconic designs as the Hammer,
Blizzard, Vertex, Element and more recently
the Altitude.

Gary Fisher is one of the founding fathers of mountain biking.
Gary and his partners started a building high-end mountain bikes
in 1979, longer than anyone else.
Since then Gary has always been ahead of his times, bringing out 1.25" steerer tubes before anyone else, and a dozen years later, the rest of the industry is starting to catch up. Same thing happened with 29ers. Gary saw their potential before any of the other mainstream companies and now six years later everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Fishers continue to lead the 29er bike category - big wheels mean a smoother ride, more traction and increased speed over rough terrain.
